Louie Research Group

Materials Science Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

We are a research group on theoretical condensed matter physics and nanoscience at the Department of Physics of the University of California at Berkeley and the Materials Science Division of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory under the supervision of Prof. Steven G. Louie. Our main research interests are on the ab initio description of electronic and structural properties of solids, surfaces, interfaces and clusters; transport and molecular electronics; quasiparticle and optical excitations; materials under pressure; nanotubes; nanodevices; solid state NMR; electron correlation effects in bulk and reduced dimensional systems.

Prof. Louie is also the Director of the Theory of Nanostructured Materials Facility at The Molecular Foundry, a Department of Energy Nanoscale Science Research Center.
